Heard it's got this amazing hidden courtyard somewhere on campus, total legend amongst the students. Apparently, it's super peaceful, away from all the hustle, perfect for studying or just chilling. Anyone know exactly where it is? I've looked at maps, but they don't show it... kinda spooky, honestly. Hoping it's not some creepy, abandoned part of campus... Really wanna find it though, sounds idyllic.

ngl that courtyard is nice but if you want quiet for actual studying the small reading room on the 2nd floor of the library beats it. aircon, no mozzies, and the staff dont care if u stay all day as long as you buy a bottle of water from the cart outside. the courtyard is more of a nap and scroll spot imo, benches get taken fast after lunch.

The courtyard people are talking about is real but the timing matters more than the location. Go between 9 and 11 in the morning when the light comes through the trees on the west side, and you'll have the place mostly to yourself since most students are in class. After 4pm it fills up with the faculty crowd and the vibe changes completely.

One thing nobody mentions: there's a small shrine tucked in the corner near the back wall, so keep your voice down if you're there early. The groundskeeper takes it seriously and he's been there for years.

been going there for years and the trick nobody tells you is the courtyard connects through to the back of the art faculty, so you can cut through from that side and skip the whole canteen route. also heads up, they lock the inner gate around 6pm sharp so dont get stuck in there after dark, had to climb out once lol. mornings before 8 are dead quiet if you can drag yourself outta bed

best som tam in Bangkok? Krua Dok Mai Kao 2026

Krua Dok Mai Kao is solid but I've always found their som tam a bit tame on the pla ra. If you want the real funky version, try the shophouse spots along Soi Udomsuk 26, near the night market end. They pound it fresh with fermented fish that'll clear your sinuses, and it's like 60 baht. Different style from the On Nut places, more Lao-leaning.

for som tam specifically i'd say the Isaan spots in Chatuchak are underrated, weekdays only though since the weekend crowd ruins the vibe. there's a stall near gate 2 that does tam pa with fermented bamboo shoots, super sour and funky, not something you see much in On Nut. if you're already heading north for Or Tor Kor anyway its worth the detour.

honestly the som tam at Krua Dok Mai Kao is good but what got me hooked is their nam prik pla raa dip with the raw veggies, that funk hits way harder than the papaya does. think most people sleep on it cuz they just order the som tam and gai yang. also pro tip, go before noon on weekdays, after that teh pla ra gets milder cuz they batch it for the lunch rush
