So I stayed at the Beat Hotel in Bangkok last week, right near the river. The vibe was amazing, seriously. All these cool murals, funky decor...felt like a bohemian artist's dream. Spent my days exp… So I stayed at the Beat Hotel in Bangkok last week, right near the river. The vibe was amazing, seriously. All these cool murals, funky decor...felt like a bohemian artist's dream. Spent my days exploring the nearby markets, got some killer street food. But the wifi...oh my god, the wifi. It was slower than a three-legged snail in molasses. Seriously crippled my Instagram game. Anyone else experience this, or was it just my room? I should of asked at reception, but I was too busy enjoying the amazing rooftop bar!

tbh i think the beat hotel's wifi is a known sacrifice for the vibe. if you're still around, the public library at bang rak district office on charoen krung soi 28 has free wifi that's actually decent and it's air conditioned. bring your own snacks though, teh vending machine there is a scam at 15 baht for warm water

The wifi issue is a known thing at Beat Hotel. If you're still in the area, pop over to the small coworking space called HOST on Charoen Krung Soi 30, it's about a five minute walk. They've got fiber optic and they let you buy a coffee for 80 baht to use the internet for a couple hours. The rooftop bar is nice but the real gem there is the little pool on the fourth floor, hardly anyone uses it and it's got a decent view of the river.

Yeah, the Beat Hotel's aesthetic is killer, I'll give you that. Totally vibed with the whole bohemian thing. But the wifi? A total joke. I swear I saw dial-up modems lurking in the server room. I ended up using the wifi at a nearby cafe, the one with the ridiculously cute golden retrievers hanging out by the door. Much better connection there, and the coffee was pretty decent too. Worth checking out if you need to actually do something online instead of just soaking up the vibes.

Seriously? Dial-up?! That's insane. I was considering the Beat Hotel for its looks, but reliable wifi is a non-negotiable for me. Thanks for the heads-up about the cafe with the golden retrievers, sounds way more appealing now. Free wifi and cute dogs? Sold. Any idea what that cafe is called?

yeah Krua Dok Mai Kao is solid but if you're up for a detour, try Som Tum Nua near Siam Square. their som tam pu pla ra is insane if you like the fermented fish sauce kick. way more pungent than the On Nut spot, just less grilled chicken options
