Bansomdejchaopraya's Secret?

Anyone know… I'm heading to Bansomdejchaopraya Rajabhat University next semester. Heard it's got some killer street food stalls nearby, way better than the stuff they serve in the canteen, apparently. Anyone know the best spots? I'm talking truly authentic, hidden-ish places, not the tourist traps. Really wanna experience the local scene. Also, I'm kinda worried about getting around, is the public transport good, or should I just stick to Grab? Really hoping to avoid some serious navigational disasters.

honestly the best move is to find the soi that runs parallel to the canal behind the university's engineering building. there's a woman there who makes kanom jeen with a green curry that's so spicy it'll make ur eyes water but in a good way. she's set up under a yellow umbrella around 11am and runs out by 1pm usually

for transport, just use the motorbike taxis. they're parked at almost every soi mouth and cost like 20 baht for a short trip. way easier than dealing with grab's surge pricing and they know every shortcut through the back alleys. just hold on tight and don't wear loose clothing near the chain

Forget the canteen entirely, that's solid advice. There's a Muslim quarter just off Charan Sanitwong Road, about a ten minute walk from the university's back gate, with some incredibly good roti and curry spots that don't have English menus. The beef massaman from the lady under the blue awning, she sets up around 11am, is worth planning your lunch around.

Getting around, I'd actually say rent a bicycle if you're staying nearby. The soi network along the canal is flat and quiet during the day, and you'll stumble onto food carts that Grab drivers won't know exist. Just lock it up well, bike theft happens.

Down the street from the university's main entrance, there's a small soi called Soi Charan Sanitwong 34 that turns into a night market around 6pm. The grilled pork skewers from the guy with the red cart, he's there every evening except Wednesdays, are some of the best in Thonburi. Pair them with the sticky rice from the vendor two stalls down and you've got a meal for under 60 baht.

For getting around, the khlong boats are an option if you're heading toward the river. The pier is a five minute walk from the campus and it's 15 baht per ride, way faster than sitting in traffic on Charan Sanitwong. Just keep your bag close and don't stand up while the boat's moving, the drivers don't slow down much.

yeah Krua Dok Mai Kao is solid but if you're up for a detour, try Som Tum Nua near Siam Square. their som tam pu pla ra is insane if you like the fermented fish sauce kick. way more pungent than the On Nut spot, just less grilled chicken options
