My question is: how's the nightlife nearby? I'm not looking for anything crazy, just some chill bars or restaurants within walking distance for a post-swim cocktail. The website's a bit vague on that. I'm hoping it's not a total desert... because I really need a good Pad Thai close by!

The area around The Pattern is a bit of a sleeper hit for food actually. Walk toward Sukhumvit Soi 22 and you'll hit a stretch of casual Thai places that stay open late, I'd point you to Rung Rueang for a solid boat noodle fix instead of Pad Thai, it's about 8 minutes on foot. For a post-swim drink, try the rooftop at The Continent hotel, it's a 10 minute walk and has a low-key vibe with decent views over the city without the club scene. You won't find a packed strip of bars right outside your door but the soi itself has a few hidden gems if you poke around.

honestly the area around Pattern is pretty quiet streetwise but you're not stranded. walk 5 mins down Soi 11 and there's a bunch of small local spots, try Baan Pad Thai on Soi 10 if you want the real deal not tourist stuff. for a cocktail after swimming, Tropicana Lounge on Sukhumvit Soi 11 is chill and has a nice vibe, like 7 min walk. the soi itself is more of a local residential street so don't expect a party scene, but you'll find enough to keep you fed and buzzed

if you walk towards Thong Lor instead of the main Sukhumvit road, there's a bunch of smaller soi restaurants that don't show up on maps. try Soi 55 for a place called Baan Ice, does a killer crab fried rice and their pad thai is solid, like 6 min walk from the hotel. for drinks, the bar at the back of W District is pretty low key and they do decent mojitos, about 10 min walk. honestly the whole area is more about wandering and finding little spots than having a strip of options, but you won't go hungry or thirsty

yeah Krua Dok Mai Kao is solid but if you're up for a detour, try Som Tum Nua near Siam Square. their som tam pu pla ra is insane if you like the fermented fish sauce kick. way more pungent than the On Nut spot, just less grilled chicken options
