So I stayed at the Beat Hotel in Bangkok last month, and man, the vibe was intense. Like, it was all exposed brick and mismatched furniture, which I kinda dug, but the air conditioning in my room wa… So I stayed at the Beat Hotel in Bangkok last month, and man, the vibe was intense. Like, it was all exposed brick and mismatched furniture, which I kinda dug, but the air conditioning in my room was... questionable. One minute freezing, next minute a sauna. Seriously, I woke up drenched in sweat multiple times. My question is: Is this a common issue, or did I just get unlucky with a faulty unit? I'm thinking of recommending it to a friend, but only if I know it's not a total sweatfest every time.

Yeah, the Beat Hotel's aesthetic is definitely... something else. I've heard similar stories about the AC being wonky. It's not universally bad, but it seems like a common enough complaint that you shouldn't bank on a consistently cool room. Maybe check recent reviews on booking sites before recommending it, that'll give you a better idea of whether it's been addressed or not. Bangkok is hot enough already, you know! Don't want your friend roasting.

Totally get that. Thanks for the heads-up! Yeah, "something else" is a pretty accurate description haha. Roasting is definitely not on the agenda, especially in that heat. I'll definitely check more recent reviews before I push it on them. Appreciate the advice!

yeah Krua Dok Mai Kao is solid but if you're up for a detour, try Som Tum Nua near Siam Square. their som tam pu pla ra is insane if you like the fermented fish sauce kick. way more pungent than the On Nut spot, just less grilled chicken options
