Apparently, the waiting room's a whole other level of patience-testing. My aunt swears she saw a ghost there once, during her last visit. Seriously. But the real question is: What's the actual best way to navigate the appointment system without losing a day of my life? Is there some secret, like, a hidden online portal or something? I'm prepared for long waits, but strategically long waits are preferable to aimlessly wandering around. Anyone got tips?

The secret is the hospital's own app, "Thonburi iConnect." It's not great but it lets you check in remotely and see the queue number from your phone. You can sit at the cafe across the street on Borommaratchachonnani until your number is close. For follow-up appointments, ask the doctor to book the next one before you leave, they can often slot you into a specific time window that bypasses the general queue.

if you're already there and the wait's crazy, just ask the info desk nurses. they're the real gatekeepers and can sometimes squeeze you in faster if you're polite. also, bring a power bank, the outlets are a gamble

honestly, go super early like right when they open or aim for late afternoon. the midday rush is insane. also, the cafeteria has surprisingly good khao tom if you do get stuck waiting for hours

best som tam in Bangkok? Krua Dok Mai Kao 2026

Krua Dok Mai Kao is solid but I've always found their som tam a bit tame on the pla ra. If you want the real funky version, try the shophouse spots along Soi Udomsuk 26, near the night market end. They pound it fresh with fermented fish that'll clear your sinuses, and it's like 60 baht. Different style from the On Nut places, more Lao-leaning.

for som tam specifically i'd say the Isaan spots in Chatuchak are underrated, weekdays only though since the weekend crowd ruins the vibe. there's a stall near gate 2 that does tam pa with fermented bamboo shoots, super sour and funky, not something you see much in On Nut. if you're already heading north for Or Tor Kor anyway its worth the detour.

honestly the som tam at Krua Dok Mai Kao is good but what got me hooked is their nam prik pla raa dip with the raw veggies, that funk hits way harder than the papaya does. think most people sleep on it cuz they just order the som tam and gai yang. also pro tip, go before noon on weekdays, after that teh pla ra gets milder cuz they batch it for the lunch rush
