I've heard the rooftop bar is amazing, but I'm worried about the noise level, I'm a super light sleeper. Anyone stayed there recently who can comment on how noisy it gets at night? I'm thinking of bringing earplugs, but I'd rather not if I don't have to. Also, any tips for getting around @Bangkok easily from the hotel? I'm not a fan of taxis.

you're getting good advice already but one thing nobody mentioned is the soi dogs near the hotel at night. if you walk back from the bts or grab dropoff after 10pm there's a pack that hangs around the 7-eleven on charoen krung. they're usually chill if you ignore them but they'll bark at anyone running or on a scooter. just walk slow and you're fine

for transport try the khlong boats on saen saep canal instead of the river. the pier is a 10 min walk from the hotel through the little market sois and it drops you right at siam or pratunam for shopping. costs like 12-20 baht and way more interesting than the river because you see the back alleys of bangkok. just watch your bag on the crowded ones

ngl the river boat tip is solid but if you're a light sleeper that 5am longtail noise is no joke. i live near the river and those things sound like lawnmowers on steroids. city side room is the move.

for transport without taxis, the bts is fine but the walk from the hotel to saphan taksin station is like 15 mins in the heat. grab bike is way better for short hops, just download the app beforehand. also the orange flag boats are 15 baht but they get packed during rush hour so avoid 8-9am and 5-6pm if you can

honestly the noise is less about the rooftop and more about the river traffic, those longtail boats start up around 5am and they are LOUD. if you get a room facing the river you'll hear em even with the windows closed. ask for a room on the opposite side when you check in, the city side is quieter.

for getting around without taxis the orange flag river boats are your best bet, 15 baht per ride and they go all the way up to nonthaburi or down to sathorn. grab a scooter from the pier if you're going somewhere not on the water, it's faster than a car and cheaper too. just make sure you hold on tight.

yeah Krua Dok Mai Kao is solid but if you're up for a detour, try Som Tum Nua near Siam Square. their som tam pu pla ra is insane if you like the fermented fish sauce kick. way more pungent than the On Nut spot, just less grilled chicken options
