I've heard whispers... legends... about a secret stash of truly amazing mango sticky rice sold only there, late at night. Apparently, it's made by this old lady, everyone calls her "Auntie Noi," and it's unlike anything you'll find anywhere else. Problem is, no one can seem to pin down exactly when she's there. Anyone know Auntie Noi's schedule? Or is this just another Bangkok myth?

The blue umbrella tip is legit. I've seen her cart there but never stopped because I assumed it was just another tourist setup. Turns out the motorbike guys know their food. If you go on a Tuesday, get there by 10:45 because she runs out fast. The coconut cream is what sets hers apart, she steeps it with screwpine leaves overnight.

tuesday and friday is right but she's there closer to midnight than 11pm during the rainy season because she waits for the evening crowd to thin out at the bts exit. the screwpine coconut cream is the real deal, she mixes in a pinch of salt from a jar she's had for decades. if you're late she'll give you the last portion with extra cream for half price, just ask politely in thai

honestly i think this is one of those myths that's half true. auntie noi does exist but she's not at maxvalu every night. she sets up across the street at the soi 39 entrance around 11pm, usually tuesdays and fridays. her mango is from mae khlong market so it's way sweeter than what you get at the tourist spots. just look for the little cart with the blue umbrella and a line of motorbike taxi drivers, that's how you know it's her

yeah Krua Dok Mai Kao is solid but if you're up for a detour, try Som Tum Nua near Siam Square. their som tam pu pla ra is insane if you like the fermented fish sauce kick. way more pungent than the On Nut spot, just less grilled chicken options
