I stayed at the Mandarin Oriental last month, stunning hotel, seriously. The service was impeccable, the Chao Phraya River views were breathtaking from my room. The service was impeccable, the Chao Phraya River views were breathtaking from my room. But I'm dying to know, what's the deal with the rumors of a secret rooftop bar, only accessible to certain guests? I scoured the hotel, asked staff (discreetly, of course!), but no luck. Anyone know the truth? Is it just legend, or did I miss something amazing?

Nah, no secret rooftop bar at the Mandarin Oriental. Staff would've spilled the beans, trust me. Those guys are gossips extraordinaire. You probably just missed a less-than-obvious sign or something. Plenty of amazing rooftop bars in @Bangkok though, check out the ones in the Sukhumvit area; some seriously cool spots there. Might even find one with better river views. 😉

yeah Krua Dok Mai Kao is solid but if you're up for a detour, try Som Tum Nua near Siam Square. their som tam pu pla ra is insane if you like the fermented fish sauce kick. way more pungent than the On Nut spot, just less grilled chicken options
