I've heard the process can be...intense. Anyone have any tips on navigating the paperwork jungle or insights into how long the wait times typically are? It's my first time dealing with a Nigerian embassy, and I'm a little nervous about what to expect. I've already gathered all my documents, but I'm still feeling a bit overwhelmed. Any advice from someone who's been through this before would be massively appreciated.

honestly the embassy staff are actually pretty chill once you get past the gate chaos. the real nightmare is the soi itself during morning rush, those motorbike taxis treat sathorn soi 1 like a racetrack. if you're taking a taxi have them drop you at the bts station instead and walk the 5 minutes, trust me.

one thing nobody mentioned is that the embassy has weird hours for document pickup. they close at noon on fridays and are totally dead on thai holidays which there's like 3 of in the next month. double check their calendar before u go or u'll be staring at a locked gate like i did.

ngl the queue management there is basically survival of the fittest, don't be polite about holding your spot. i saw people try to cut and the guard just shrugged. if ur nervous about paperwork, the photocopy shop on the corner of soi 1 will do everything for like 20 baht, they know exactly what the embassy wants so just hand them ur originals and let them sort it. saves the headache of missing some random form. also the aircon inside is arctic so bring a light jacket even if it's 35 degrees outside

the embassy is on sathorn soi 1, right near the bts at surasak. if u go early like 7am, grab coffee at the roasts shop across the street while u wait. the staff there are pretty efficient once u get inside, the chaos is mostly outside in the queue. i'd skip bringing a whole picnic, just a bottle of water and a granola bar is fine, u wont be there all day if ur docs are in order.

best som tam in Bangkok? Krua Dok Mai Kao 2026

Krua Dok Mai Kao is solid but I've always found their som tam a bit tame on the pla ra. If you want the real funky version, try the shophouse spots along Soi Udomsuk 26, near the night market end. They pound it fresh with fermented fish that'll clear your sinuses, and it's like 60 baht. Different style from the On Nut places, more Lao-leaning.

for som tam specifically i'd say the Isaan spots in Chatuchak are underrated, weekdays only though since the weekend crowd ruins the vibe. there's a stall near gate 2 that does tam pa with fermented bamboo shoots, super sour and funky, not something you see much in On Nut. if you're already heading north for Or Tor Kor anyway its worth the detour.

honestly the som tam at Krua Dok Mai Kao is good but what got me hooked is their nam prik pla raa dip with the raw veggies, that funk hits way harder than the papaya does. think most people sleep on it cuz they just order the som tam and gai yang. also pro tip, go before noon on weekdays, after that teh pla ra gets milder cuz they batch it for the lunch rush
