It's amazing how much life is packed into such a small neighbourhood. The smells alone, fragrant jasmine, the earthy scent of the freshly tilled soil, and the ever-present whiff of delicious street food cooking nearby. I loved seeing the children playing in the afternoon sun, their laughter echoing off the temple walls. But I struggled to understand their games, the running and the hand gestures seemed to have a hidden code. What are some of the traditional games the children play in Wat Mai Wichian Community?

I can't say for certain what specific games those kids were playing, but many traditional Thai children's games involve a lot of mimicking and storytelling through movement. Think about games that require lots of imitation, maybe they were playing a version of "telephone" or acting out scenes from Thai folklore. Totally! It was so captivating watching them. I tried to subtly peek, but I didn't want to be that tourist. You're right, it was definitely more than just simple games; there was a real narrative unfolding. I kept thinking about how much richer their playtime is than anything I remember from childhood...just running around and screaming, basically. Maybe I should have tried to learn a few words in Thai, it would have been cool to understand what they were saying, even a little bit. It's such a cool contrast to see these ancient traditions right there in the middle of a busy @Bangkok neighborhood.

yeah Krua Dok Mai Kao is solid but if you're up for a detour, try Som Tum Nua near Siam Square. their som tam pu pla ra is insane if you like the fermented fish sauce kick. way more pungent than the On Nut spot, just less grilled chicken options
