I popped into one near my hotel, the one on Sukhumvit Soi 11, maybe?, to grab a mango sticky rice and a bottle of water. And this dude walks in, wearing full motorcycle gear, helmet still on, orders a steaming bowl of something that smelled AMAZING, pays, and scarfs it down in, like, two minutes, then leaves. No joke, it was like a ninja refueling mission. Seriously, what was that he ate? It smelled like heaven. I should of asked... Maybe next time.

i've seen that exact thing on soi 11. the guy prob grabbed a bowl of kuay jab nam sai from the hot case near the counter. it's a rolled up rice noodle soup with pepper and garlic oil, super aromatic. the 7-11 ones come in those styrofoam bowls with the clear plastic lid, like 35 baht. bikers love it cause it's filling but you can eat it fast without spilling on your jacket.

ngl I think he was eating khao tom pla from the hot cabinet. it's like a salty rice soup with fish, they keep it in those metal pots near the steamed buns. the one at soi 11 7-11 hits different cause they actually put fresh ginger and celery in it, not just the packet stuff. if you want to try it yourself go around 6pm when they restock, the morning batch gets watery

honestly it was prob khao tom or maybe a jok rice porridge. the 7-11 on soi 11 has those hot soup cups near the register, they're like 25 baht and insanely good for a quick fix. bikers love em cause they can down it standing up without taking the helmet off. next time grab the one with the pink lid, it's pork bone broth with ginger.

yeah Krua Dok Mai Kao is solid but if you're up for a detour, try Som Tum Nua near Siam Square. their som tam pu pla ra is insane if you like the fermented fish sauce kick. way more pungent than the On Nut spot, just less grilled chicken options
