Anyone know where the real local haunts are? The hole-in-the-wall spots only the residents know? I wanna avoid the tourist traps and get the authentic experience, you know? Think hidden gem, but less "hidden" and more "well-known by people who actually live there". Any tips would be amazing!

honestly the best move on si phraya is hitting the soi that runs parallel to the river, soi wat muang kae. there's a cart around 6pm selling grilled pork skewers that have this insane smoky flavor, the lady uses a family recipe for the dipping sauce that's sweet and tangy. most people walk right past it because they're looking for the flashier signs on the main road

ngl the real move on si phraya is the late-night noodle spot tucked behind the old Siam Commercial Bank building, soi phra phong. no sign, just a cart under a flickering light, the guy makes this insane tom yum kway teow with crispy pork belly and a broth that'll wake u up. opens around 10pm and it's mostly grab drivers and night shift workers, i've never seen another farang there. bring cash, like 50 baht tops for a bowl, and be ready to eat fast before the mosquitoes find u

The real gold on Si Phraya is the khao tom place on Soi Sapan Han, about fifty meters from the main road. It's just a fluorescent-lit room with plastic stools and a steam table full of rice soup toppings, the woman who runs it has been there since the 90s. Go for the salted egg and minced pork version, it's about 40 baht and they'll bring you a plate of fried garlic and chiles on the side. The whole street knows it but you won't find it on any blog because there's nothing photogenic about it.

yeah Krua Dok Mai Kao is solid but if you're up for a detour, try Som Tum Nua near Siam Square. their som tam pu pla ra is insane if you like the fermented fish sauce kick. way more pungent than the On Nut spot, just less grilled chicken options
