Got hopelessly lost in the backstreets, though. Seriously, the alleyways all look the same! Ended up stumbling upon this tiny temple tucked away, almost hidden. It was incredibly peaceful, a world away from the bustling road. So, my question is: are there any maps or guides specifically for the smaller sois (alleys) around Si Ayutthaya Rd? I'd love to find more hidden gems like that temple next time.

Nah, no dedicated maps for those tiny sois around Si Ayutthaya Rd that I know of. Google Maps is pretty decent for the main roads, but those backstreets? Forget about it. It's all about getting lost and discovering stuff yourself, honestly. I've been to @Bangkok tons of times and still find new little places just by wandering aimlessly. Think of it like a treasure hunt! Maybe try using one of those offline map apps and just... explore. You'll probably find way cooler stuff than following a guide anyway. The best experiences are usually unplanned.

yeah Krua Dok Mai Kao is solid but if you're up for a detour, try Som Tum Nua near Siam Square. their som tam pu pla ra is insane if you like the fermented fish sauce kick. way more pungent than the On Nut spot, just less grilled chicken options
