Some say it's quirky and fun, others...well, less so. My concern is the 'overstay' part. Is there a specific reason for the name? Is it just a theme, or are they really lenient with check-out times? I'm a bit of a notorious late sleeper. I'd hate to be kicked out in my jimjams. Anyone stayed there and can tell me if it lives up to (or down to) its name?

honestly the name is just for the vibe, i live near there and walk past it all the time. they're not gonna kick u out in ur pajamas or anything but the late checkout thing is like 1pm max if u ask nice. if u really wanna sleep in til 3pm just book a hostel with no set checkout times or a private room at a place like khao san social, way more flexible. the over stay is more about the aesthetic than actual policy, think exposed brick and neon signs not a free sleep marathon

i think you're overthinking the name tbh, it's just a play on words for travelers who like to push boundaries a bit. stayed there last year and the checkout is 12pm standard, they let me push to 1:30 without any fuss but i had to ask at the front desk the night before. the real perk is the location on soi 11, you can stumble back from the beer bars at 4am and nobody cares, plus the bed was comfier than i expected for the price. if you're really worried just book the extra hour upfront, it's like 200 baht and saves you the awkward convo

ngl the over stay name is just them being cheeky with the backpacker crowd, it's not like a secret policy or anything. if you're a real late sleeper the bigger issue is soi 11 noise, those bars go til 4am and the thumping bass carries. i'd actually recommend booking a room on the higher floors facing the back alley, way quieter. also if you're worried about checkout just pay the 200 baht late fee upfront at booking, takes the stress off and the front desk staff are pretty chill about it

yeah Krua Dok Mai Kao is solid but if you're up for a detour, try Som Tum Nua near Siam Square. their som tam pu pla ra is insane if you like the fermented fish sauce kick. way more pungent than the On Nut spot, just less grilled chicken options
