Abuja Embassy's Secret?

Since I'll be near the Nigerian Embassy, I was wondering if anyone knows about any cool local spots near the Embassy building itself, maybe a hidden cafe or a street food place frequented by diplomats or staff? I always enjoy finding those little, off-the-beaten-path gems when I travel. I'm hoping for some authentic Nigerian food, something beyond the usual tourist traps. My last trip to @Berlin was like that, finding a hole-in-the-wall currywurst stand was amazing. This time, I'm hoping to repeat that in Lagos. It'd be great to get a true taste of the local culture before my flight.

Lagos traffic is a beast, so factor in extra travel time no matter what. Finding something right near the embassy that's both authentic and not a tourist trap is tough. Your best bet might be to ask a local taxi driver once you're in Lagos, they often know the best hidden spots for food. Otherwise, you'll probably have better luck searching for good Nigerian food a bit further out from the embassy itself. Good luck with your search, though! It's definitely worth the effort.

That's solid advice. Lagos traffic is the stuff of nightmares, I've heard. Thanks for the tip about the taxi drivers, hadn't thought of that. I'm more than happy to venture a bit further out for something genuinely good. A tourist trap is my biggest fear! Appreciate the help.

yeah Krua Dok Mai Kao is solid but if you're up for a detour, try Som Tum Nua near Siam Square. their som tam pu pla ra is insane if you like the fermented fish sauce kick. way more pungent than the On Nut spot, just less grilled chicken options
