I've heard whispers... legends, even, about a hidden staircase somewhere within its structure, a secret escape route maybe? Or just an architectural quirk that's never been fully explained. Is there any truth to these rumors? Anyone ever stumbled upon this mythical staircase? I'm planning on spending a whole day exploring the area around it

honestly i think the hidden staircase thing is just a story that got passed around after some renovation work a few years back. there was a service stairwell that got walled over during the 2010s facelift and people turned it into a mystery. if you want something actually weird in that area, walk two blocks north to soi 23 and look for the old shophouse with the upside down buddha statue in the window. nobody knows why it's there either but it's real

the staircase thing is a fun story but the real mystery in that building is the 4th floor. there's a whole empty floor with old office furniture still set up like everyone just walked out one day in the 90s. i think it's part of some film set that never got used but nobody i've asked knows for sure. if you go during a weekday the security guard might let you up there if you ask nicely and say you're a photographer

Nah, I've never heard of a hidden staircase in the MT&T Building. Sounds like a fun urban legend though! Spent a fair bit of time around that area, lots of great street food nearby, you'll have a blast. Focus your exploration on the architectural details of the building itself, it's pretty striking. Maybe you'll uncover the "mystery" yourself. Good luck!

That's fair enough. I hadn't considered focusing on the building's architecture itself, I was so fixated on the staircase myth. Thanks for the tip! I'll definitely check out the street food too; always up for a good meal. Maybe the "mystery" is just a really good lunch spot. 😉

yeah Krua Dok Mai Kao is solid but if you're up for a detour, try Som Tum Nua near Siam Square. their som tam pu pla ra is insane if you like the fermented fish sauce kick. way more pungent than the On Nut spot, just less grilled chicken options
