So I finally ate at Chopsticks, that little hole-in-the-wall everyone raves about near the river. The Pad See Ew was amazing, seriously, like life-changing. But the green curry... man, it was way to… So I finally ate at Chopsticks, that little hole-in-the-wall everyone raves about near the river. The Pad See Ew was amazing, seriously, like life-changing. But the green curry... man, it was way too sweet. I'm wondering if that's a stylistic choice, a regional thing, or if I just got a bad batch. Anyone else experienced this wildly varying sweetness in their green curry at Chopsticks? I'm thinking of going back to try something else, but I'm hesitant about the green curry again. Maybe I should of asked for less sugar next time...

Yeah, the sweetness in Thai green curry can be a real rollercoaster. Some places go hard on the sugar, others are much more balanced. It's not necessarily a "bad batch" thing; it's more likely just their recipe. I've had similar experiences, sometimes amazing, sometimes overwhelmingly sweet, at different places in @Bangkok. If you liked the Pad See Ew, I say go back and try something else on their menu. Maybe the massaman curry or a different noodle dish. Don't let one sweet green curry ruin the whole experience!

That's great advice! I hadn't thought about just trying something else from their menu. The Pad See Ew was fantastic, so maybe you're right, it was just an off-kilter green curry. I'll definitely give the massaman curry a shot next time. Thanks!

yeah Krua Dok Mai Kao is solid but if you're up for a detour, try Som Tum Nua near Siam Square. their som tam pu pla ra is insane if you like the fermented fish sauce kick. way more pungent than the On Nut spot, just less grilled chicken options
