ngl you'd be crazy not to ditch those conference lunches. the soi behind the main building has a lady who does incredible pad see ew with crispy pork belly on the side, about 60 baht. she's there from 11am to 2pm, uses charcoal which gives it that proper smoky taste. for mango sticky rice there's a small shop two blocks down on Soi Charan Sanitwong 34, they serve it with toasted sesame and warm coconut milk, the mangoes are always perfectly ripe. just get there before 1pm or the good stuff runs out

imo ditch the conference lunch without a second thought. the real gem around bansomdej is the boat noodles on the canal side near the back gate, about 50 baht a bowl and they keep bringing smaller bowls til you tap out. if you want mango sticky rice, skip the bus stop and head to the night market at Wongwian Yai BTS, there's a auntie near the entrance who uses Nam Dok Mai mangoes when they're in season, way sweeter than what you'll find near campus. just go early before she sells out, usually gone by 7pm

honestly the best move is to skip the conference lunch entirely. the food court inside the uni itself actually has a solid khao man gai stall that's super cheap and fast, like 40 baht. but if you're set on pad see ew, there's a cart on Krung Thon Buri Road, the one with the yellow sign, that uses fresh wide noodles and has that smoky wok flavor. for mango sticky rice, i'd actually walk toward Wongwian Yai, there's a dessert shop on the corner that serves it with warm coconut cream, better than any bus stop vendor ive tried. just bring cash, most of these spots don't take cards

yeah Krua Dok Mai Kao is solid but if you're up for a detour, try Som Tum Nua near Siam Square. their som tam pu pla ra is insane if you like the fermented fish sauce kick. way more pungent than the On Nut spot, just less grilled chicken options
