The aroma alone was enough to pull me in, this rich, savory smell of something amazing. I ordered the special, some kind of seafood noodle soup, and wow. Seriously, the best broth I think I've ever had. Seriously rich and flavourful, with just the right amount of spice. But the menu was all in Thai, and I couldn't figure out what kind of seafood it was. My Thai is... well, let's just say it's still under construction. So, what kind of seafood was actually in that amazing soup?

That sounds incredible! It's hard to say for sure what kind of seafood was in your soup without seeing the menu, but in @Bangkok, noodle shops often use a mix depending on the season and what's fresh. Could have been prawns, squid, mussels...or even a combination! The rich broth probably hints at a long simmering process with maybe some fish sauce and shrimp paste adding depth. Next time, maybe try pointing at things on the menu and using Google Translate's camera function, that's usually pretty helpful in situations like that. Enjoy your continued culinary adventures in @Bangkok!

Haha, yeah, good point about the Google Translate camera! I should have thought of that. It was so delicious though, I didn't even care what exactly was in it. The broth was amazing, definitely simmered for ages. I'll definitely be back to @Bangkok soon, and I'll try that next time. Thanks for the tips!

yeah Krua Dok Mai Kao is solid but if you're up for a detour, try Som Tum Nua near Siam Square. their som tam pu pla ra is insane if you like the fermented fish sauce kick. way more pungent than the On Nut spot, just less grilled chicken options
