Wat Mai Wichian Commnuity's Secret?

Spent a week wandering those quiet streets, felt like stepping back in time. The houses...so much character! Saw kids playing, old ladies chatting on stoops. It was peaceful, a little slice of old @Ba Spent a week wandering those quiet streets, felt like stepping back in time. The houses...so much character! Saw kids playing, old ladies chatting on stoops. It was peaceful, a little slice of old @Bangkok. But I couldn't find a single decent street food stall. Seriously, nothing. Where do the locals actually eat?

That's bizarre! A week in Wat Mai Wichian and no street food? I've spent time in that area, it's usually bursting with little hole-in-the-wall places. Maybe you were just unlucky with the timing, or perhaps you weren't looking in the right soi? Try venturing deeper into the smaller side streets, the best food is often tucked away from the main thoroughfares. Or, failing that, head a little further afield towards the Pak Khlong Talat flower market area; that whole zone is a street food paradise.

You're totally right! I was so focused on the temple itself, I completely missed all the smaller streets. I guess I was expecting something more...obvious, like a designated food court or something. Thanks for the tip about Pak Khlong Talat, that sounds amazing, I'll definitely check it out next time I'm in the area. Silly me, should of explored more!

yeah Krua Dok Mai Kao is solid but if you're up for a detour, try Som Tum Nua near Siam Square. their som tam pu pla ra is insane if you like the fermented fish sauce kick. way more pungent than the On Nut spot, just less grilled chicken options
