Completely vanished. The staff, bless their hearts, spoke barely any English, and my Thai is... well, nonexistent. Spent the entire first day running around like a headless chicken trying to find my stuff. Seriously considering just buying new clothes, it's cheaper than the international calls I'd have to make. Anyone else experienced this kind of luggage hell here? What's the best way to handle it?

Head over to Mega Plaza Saphan Lek on Chakrawat Road, it's a few stops on the MRT from where you likely are. The whole building is cheap clothes, knockoffs, and basics, you can get a week's worth of outfits for under 1,500 baht. Grab a SIM card at 7-Eleven for like 300 baht with data, then use Google Translate to call the airline's Thai office directly, they usually have someone who speaks English on the line.

your best bet is honestly the airline's lost & found desk at suvarnabhumi, not the phone lines. go back to the airport if you can, it's a pain but they have a dedicated team that processes claims faster than calling from your apartment. the desk is on the arrivals level near baggage claim 8, they'll give you a temporary cash advance for essentials on the spot if you push for it. also check with your credit card, some premium cards cover lost luggage even if you didn't buy the ticket with them, i've seen chase sapphire folks get reimbursed same day here

Oh man, that sucks. Bangkok airport... it's a whole other level of chaos sometimes. I've had close calls, but never a complete loss. First, check with your airline immediately. Even if the staff at the apartment had limited English, the airline has to have an English-speaking representative for lost luggage. File a formal report, get a reference number, that's your golden ticket. Then, if your airline is truly useless (and they can be...), contact your travel insurance. They should help with replacing essential items at least. Buying new clothes might be quicker, but insurance might reimburse you. Good luck, you'll get through this. It's just a massive pain in the ass.

Ugh, you're not kidding about the chaos. Bangkok's airport is a beast! I did go straight to the airline, the whole process was excruciatingly slow. The reference number is a small victory, I guess. My travel insurance... well, let's just say their customer service is currently testing my patience. I've filed a claim, but their response time is... glacial. I ended up buying some basics; it's surprisingly expensive to replace even simple things like underwear in a hurry. At least I'm not completely stranded. Thanks for the advice, though. I needed that.

yeah Krua Dok Mai Kao is solid but if you're up for a detour, try Som Tum Nua near Siam Square. their som tam pu pla ra is insane if you like the fermented fish sauce kick. way more pungent than the On Nut spot, just less grilled chicken options
