Not bad, but not life-changing. My friend swore it was the best in @Bangkok, and I'm wondering, is there another dish I should of tried? Maybe their green curry? I'm a little disappointed, to be honest. Next time I'll try something different. Maybe I should have asked for extra spice...

You had me at disappointed. The thing about Pad See Ew is the wok hei, that smoky char from a high-heat wok, and tourist places like Chopsticks rarely have the firepower for it. Try the stall at the end of Soi Rang Nam, near the Victory Monument taxi rank, just follow the smoke and the line of office workers at lunch. Their version with crispy pork is 60 baht and they don't mess around with the chili vinegar. Also, if you're still in the area, their moo ping is worth grabbing, they grill it over charcoal right on the sidewalk.

if you're near bangkok's old town, try the pad see ew at thipsamai on mahachai road. it's famous for their pad thai but their pad see ew is seriously underrated, gets that charred wok flavor right. the green curry at chopsticks is fine but nothing special, i'd save your appetite for something like khao soi at on lok yun instead. also, the extra spice move is key but ask for dried chili flakes on the side, not the fresh ones, it hits different

I'd skip the green curry too, it's not where they shine. For me the best Pad See Ew in the city is at Baan Somtum in Sathorn, the wok hei is incredible and they use those wide rice noodles that actually char properly. If you're near Victory Monument, the stalls under the BTS do a mean version for 50 baht that beats most sit-down places.

best som tam in Bangkok? Krua Dok Mai Kao 2026

yeah Krua Dok Mai Kao is solid but if you're up for a detour, try Som Tum Nua near Siam Square. their som tam pu pla ra is insane if you like the fermented fish sauce kick. way more pungent than the On Nut spot, just less grilled chicken options
