Seriously, the Pad See Ew is phenomenal. Perfectly wok-hei'd noodles, the right amount of sweetness and savory, amazing egg. But... the menu is HUGE. I'm overwhelmed! What's the local favorite dish, beyond the Pad See Ew? I wanna try something even more amazing...if that's even possible.

the crispy pork is good but honestly their khao soi is what i keep going back for. it's not on the main menu either, you have to ask for the northern thai menu. the broth is super rich and creamy with that perfect curry oil slick on top, comes with pickled mustard greens and shallots on the side. if you want something lighter their yum woon sen with seafood is a sleeper hit, the glass noodles soak up all that lime and fish sauce dressing

Dude, Chopsticks is legit. I'm obsessed with their Pad See Ew too. If you're looking for something totally different, try their Moo Ping (grilled pork skewers). They're not messing around with the marinade, so flavorful. Or, if you want something more substantial, their Massaman Curry is amazing. It's a richer, sweeter curry than some places do, and it's usually served with fluffy rice and peanuts. You won't regret it. Enjoy!

I'd actually say the khao man gai is the sleeper hit at Chopsticks. It's not what they're famous for, but the chicken is poached perfectly and the rice is cooked in the broth so it's super fragrant. They serve it with a ginger garlic sauce that's way better than the usual stuff. The portion is generous too, about 80 baht last time I checked.

Krua Dok Mai Kao is solid but I've always found their som tam a bit tame on the pla ra. If you want the real funky version, try the shophouse spots along Soi Udomsuk 26, near the night market end. They pound it fresh with fermented fish that'll clear your sinuses, and it's like 60 baht. Different style from the On Nut places, more Lao-leaning.

for som tam specifically i'd say the Isaan spots in Chatuchak are underrated, weekdays only though since the weekend crowd ruins the vibe. there's a stall near gate 2 that does tam pa with fermented bamboo shoots, super sour and funky, not something you see much in On Nut. if you're already heading north for Or Tor Kor anyway its worth the detour.

honestly the som tam at Krua Dok Mai Kao is good but what got me hooked is their nam prik pla raa dip with the raw veggies, that funk hits way harder than the papaya does. think most people sleep on it cuz they just order the som tam and gai yang. also pro tip, go before noon on weekdays, after that teh pla ra gets milder cuz they batch it for the lunch rush
