Anyone know how strict the security protocols are? Do I need to be prepared for a long wait or rigorous checks? I'm hoping for a relatively smooth process, but I'd rather be over-prepared.

honestly the nigerian embassy on sukhumvit soi 28 is pretty chill compared to some others around town. the guards are used to foreigners so they'll just ask for your passport and check your bag at the entrance, no need to stress about thai language at all. if you bring a photocopy of your passport and the documents you're submitting it'll go faster, they usually make copies there but it costs like 5 baht per page. best time to go is right when they open around 9am, otherwise you'll be waiting outside in that soi which gets hot as hell by 11

Since you don't speak Thai, you'll be fine. The guards at the Nigerian Embassy on Soi Sukhumvit 28 are used to handling English speakers and will just wave you through after a quick bag check and metal detector scan. What actually slows people down is forgetting to bring a pen for the visitor log or having a phone that won't turn off for the security tray. If you show up around 9am right when they open, you'll likely be in and out in under 20 minutes, but if you hit the mid-morning rush expect to wait outside in that narrow soi where the heat bakes off the pavement.

I've been to that embassy a few times for visa work and the security is pretty standard for Bangkok. They'll have you empty your pockets and put your phone in a tray before the metal detector, nothing invasive. One thing I'd mention is that the air conditioning inside is usually set to arctic levels, so if you're going to be waiting for a while a light jacket is worth bringing. The whole process from gate to being done with submission took me about 35 minutes last time, but I went on a Tuesday afternoon when it was quieter.

yeah Krua Dok Mai Kao is solid but if you're up for a detour, try Som Tum Nua near Siam Square. their som tam pu pla ra is insane if you like the fermented fish sauce kick. way more pungent than the On Nut spot, just less grilled chicken options
