What's the vibe like? Is it a long wait? Any tips for a smoother experience would be greatly appreciated. Seriously, any inside info would be a lifesaver.

I've been through it twice in the last year. The waiting area is just a few plastic chairs in a narrow hallway, no AC to speak of, so dress light. If you're missing any document, they won't tell you what's wrong, they'll just hand it back and you'll have to figure it out yourself. I'd recommend going on a Thursday afternoon around 2pm, that's when I've seen the shortest lines. There's a 7-Eleven on Soi Tonson around the corner where you can grab cold water for 14 baht before you head in.

The embassy is on Wireless Road, right near the Dutch embassy. If you go, expect to spend at least a couple hours there, sometimes more. I'd recommend bringing photocopies of everything, even things you think are obvious, because they might ask for something random like your hotel booking confirmation. Also, the staff are generally fine if you're polite and have your documents in order, but rushing or acting frustrated will not help your case.

ngl the other replies are right about the paperwork but here's a weird thing i noticed - they really care about the specific format of ur passport photos. like not just the size but the background shade. there's a photo shop on the ground floor of the nearby villa market that knows the exact specs and charges like 100 baht. saves u from getting turned away at the window

also mid-morning around 10am is actually better than sunrise rush. the morning crowd clears out by then and the staff are less stressed. just bring a power bank since they don't have charging points in the waiting area

yeah Krua Dok Mai Kao is solid but if you're up for a detour, try Som Tum Nua near Siam Square. their som tam pu pla ra is insane if you like the fermented fish sauce kick. way more pungent than the On Nut spot, just less grilled chicken options
