The Wi-Fi's surprisingly good, which is a miracle considering the slightly...rustic vibe. I spent the afternoon wandering around the pool, it's smaller than the pictures suggested but still nice. The staff are friendly, though they seem to just...know things? Like, I haven't told them my name and they already know my room number. Creepy? Maybe. Convenient? Definitely. My biggest concern is breakfast. The menu looks...adventurous. I'm a creature of habit when it comes to morning food. I'm genuinely wondering, what's the weirdest thing they've served at breakfast?

ngl the overstay breakfast menu changes based on what the owner's mom bought at the market that morning, i've heard stories of people getting a plate of fried chicken feet with a side of watermelon soda. if you're not into that, theres a guy selling jok (rice porridge) from a cart on soi rambuttri around 7am, 25 baht with a soft boiled egg and its the most comforting thing you'll eat in bangkok

yeah the overstay is kind of a legend in the budget scene, i remember when they used to have a sign out front saying "check in anytime, check out never" which is either a joke or a threat depending on your mood. for breakfast the weirdest i've personally seen was a bowl of tom yum with what looked like fried wonton skins floating in it, which honestly is just a textural choice more than anything wild. if you want to play it safe, skip their buffet entirely and walk two minutes to the small shop on soi rambuttri that sells khao niao mamuang, it's 60 baht and the mango is always perfectly ripe, way better than gambling on whatever the hotel decides is adventurous that morning.

I'd just walk over to the little Muslim food stall on Soi Rambutri around the corner, they do a proper roti with egg and banana for 35 baht that'll sort you out better than anything the hotel kitchen is winging. The Overstay's breakfast is basically whatever the owner's aunt felt like making that morning, I've heard stories about fried pork rinds with a side of jellied coconut milk that sounds more like a dessert than a breakfast. If you're set on eating at the hotel, just ask for kai jiao, it's a Thai omelet and they can't really mess that up no matter how creative they're feeling.

yeah Krua Dok Mai Kao is solid but if you're up for a detour, try Som Tum Nua near Siam Square. their som tam pu pla ra is insane if you like the fermented fish sauce kick. way more pungent than the On Nut spot, just less grilled chicken options
