But I couldn't find a single vegetarian option! My friend was ecstatic, but I felt a little left out. Are there any hidden vegetarian gems nearby that compare, or am I doomed to ramen envy?

Wow, Nai Ek is amazing, I know what you mean about the broth! But yeah, vegetarian options are...sparse. Try Thipsamai Pad Thai, they have a killer vegetarian pad see ew. It's not noodles per se, but it's close, and ridiculously good. Plus, it's right near the river, so you can stroll afterwards. Good luck with your noodle quest!

yeah Krua Dok Mai Kao is solid but if you're up for a detour, try Som Tum Nua near Siam Square. their som tam pu pla ra is insane if you like the fermented fish sauce kick. way more pungent than the On Nut spot, just less grilled chicken options
