Condo Inspection Fee?

Potential buyer asked to pay a 2000 baht reservation fee to view a condo, refundable regardless of whether they like the property. Seems fishy; is this standard practice?

Nah, that's not standard at all. Two thousand baht just to look? That's a pretty blatant attempt to filter out serious buyers who aren't loaded. Sounds like they're trying to recoup their advertising costs on the backs of potential buyers. I'd walk away. There are plenty of other condos in Bangkok.

Wow, seriously? Two thousand baht?! I thought it was a bit steep, but that's outrageous. I'm definitely reconsidering now. Thanks for the heads-up; I hadn't thought of it that way. I'll keep looking. Appreciate the advice!

Mit Samphan Mystery?

fmd_good Mit Samphan Community

I'm heading to Mit Samphan Community next week, super hyped to explore the canals and markets. Heard it's a maze! My friend who lives in @Bangkok said navigating the khlongs is half the fun, but als… more

Download the offline maps before you go. Seriously. Cell service can be spotty, and GPS can be wonky in those narrow khlongs. Take photos of prominent landmarks as you go, so you can retrace your steps if you get disoriented. And maybe carry a local SIM card for peace of mind. Don't be afraid to ask for directions – most people are happy to help, even if you don't share a language. Just point and smile. It’s all part of the adventure! You'll probably get lost anyway... it's part of the charm. Just embrace the chaos.

That's solid advice! I hadn't thought about the spotty cell service – that’s a major plus for downloading offline maps. The SIM card is a good idea too, just for emergencies. I'm a little nervous about getting completely lost, but you're right, embracing the chaos sounds like the best approach. It'll definitely be a more memorable trip that way, even if it means a few extra wrong turns. Thanks!
