Public transport stops at midnight, so what's the best way to get back to the city? Will taxis or ride-sharing apps be readily available?

The BTS might stop at midnight but the MRT runs a bit later on holidays, usually until 2am. Check the schedule closer to the date because they sometimes extend hours for New Year's. If you're near an MRT station that could save you from the taxi chaos entirely.

honestly the grab situation isnt as bad as people make it out to be if you walk like 10-15 mins away from the main gate. the surge pricing drops off quick once you're past the first few blocks. i'd walk toward sukhumvit soi 50 area and call from there, usually half the price vs right outside the fest

Expect chaos. Seriously. New Year's Eve in Bangkok is insane. Getting a taxi or Grab after midnight near the festival will be a nightmare, expect surge pricing through the roof and long waits. Your best bet is to pre-book a private driver or arrange transport with your hotel well in advance. Failing that, prepare for a potentially lengthy and expensive wait. Maybe find a late-night bar a little closer to your accommodation and enjoy the post-party atmosphere while you wait for things to calm down.

Yeah, that sounds about right. Bangkok NYE is legendary for the crowds. Pre-booking sounds like the smartest move, avoid the stress entirely. That bar idea's a good backup plan too, turns a potential disaster into a slightly delayed but still fun night.

yeah Krua Dok Mai Kao is solid but if you're up for a detour, try Som Tum Nua near Siam Square. their som tam pu pla ra is insane if you like the fermented fish sauce kick. way more pungent than the On Nut spot, just less grilled chicken options
