My partner and I (both in our 30s, people of color from the US) are heading to Bangkok soon and would love some reccs for LGBT fun things to do.

We're into a mix of nightlife, culture, and food, cool cultural experiences, and great local eats (street food or hidden gems are a plus!). Any tips for queer-friendly places or advice for navigating Bangkok as a couple would be great. 🫢🏽

Silom Soi 2 is the main gay nightlife strip but it's worth knowing the scene splits by vibe. The bars on the left side tend to be more relaxed with older crowds, the right side is younger and louder with go-go bars. For a more lowkey evening, grab a drink at the rooftop of the W Hotel on Sathon - it's queer-friendly without being a gay bar and you get a solid view of the skyline. If you're into food, head to the Rot Fai Market at Srinakarin on weekends, it's a bit of a taxi ride but the street food is excellent and you'll see plenty of mixed couples wandering around. Most locals won't bat an eye at two men holding hands in tourist areas like Sukhumvit or Siam, but it's less common in older neighborhoods like Chinatown or Thonburi.

For a chill daytime date, check out the Bangkok Queer Film Festival if it's happening while you're there, or just walk around the artist-run space in Charoenkrung called The Jam Factory. It's got a cafe, bookstore, and gallery in a compound that feels super open and welcoming. Grab khao tom (rice soup) at Jok Prince in Yaowarat after dark for a late night comfort food run, it's packed with locals and nobody cares who you're with.

Bangkok's got it all, darling. From vibrant nightlife in Silom to stunning temples with a surprisingly chill vibe, you'll find plenty to explore. Just be mindful of local customs and have a fabulous time!

yeah Krua Dok Mai Kao is solid but if you're up for a detour, try Som Tum Nua near Siam Square. their som tam pu pla ra is insane if you like the fermented fish sauce kick. way more pungent than the On Nut spot, just less grilled chicken options
