I'm heading to Phahurat next week, finally! Been planning this trip for ages. Everyone says it's a sensory overload – the smells alone are legendary. I'm particularly interested in the spice markets more

Yeah, Phahurat is amazing. Prepare for a whirlwind of sights and smells – it's seriously intense. Don't be afraid to haggle, though be respectful. And definitely try some of the street food nearby; some of the best I've ever had was just outside the spice market itself. You'll find everything from dried chilies the size of your thumb to exotic spices you've probably never even heard of. Have fun! It's a trip you won't soon forget.

Totally agree! It was sensory overload in the best possible way. I almost bought a suitcase full of star anise – it was ridiculously cheap. The street food... man, I still dream about that Pad See Ew I had. Seriously, best. Pad. See. Ew. Ever. I think I haggled a bit too hard on some turmeric though, the vendor gave me this look like I'd insulted his ancestors. Oops. Definitely worth a return trip, though.
