I have history of anxiety, I had Xanax in my home country but since the prescription was expired I didn't had time to go renew it before I came here, so wonder how and where I find a doctor who can prescribe me? Is it easy?

if u go to bumrungrad or samitivej, try booking online first or calling ahead - walk-in waits can be 2+ hours at the psych department. also check if ur travel insurance covers outpatient mental health, a lot of policies don't and the consultation plus meds can add up quick if ur paying cash. one more thing, some thai pharmacies near those hospitals will fill a foreign prescription if it's current, but since urs is expired you'll definitely need the doctor visit first

honestly it's pretty straightforward if u go private. i'd skip the big hospitals like bumrungrad if u want something quicker and cheaper, try medconsult clinic on sukhumvit soi 39 instead. they do walk-ins, english speaking, and a psych consult is around 1,000-1,500 baht. just bring any old prescription or a photo of the bottle, they're used to travelers needing short-term refills

just adding another option - try the Samitivej hospital network, they have a specific wellness center in sukhumvit soi 49 that handles mental health stuff. cheaper than bumrungrad but still solid english support. also fyi benzos here are pretty tightly controlled so don't expect more than a 30 day supply at a time, and some pharmacies might ask for ID when filling it

one thing nobody mentioned - bring your old prescription bottle even if expired. the label with your name and the drug name helps a lot with the paperwork here. also keep in mind thai doctors tend to prescribe lower doses than western ones, so if u were on 1mg back home they might start u on 0.5mg first

Krua Dok Mai Kao is solid but I've always found their som tam a bit tame on the pla ra. If you want the real funky version, try the shophouse spots along Soi Udomsuk 26, near the night market end. They pound it fresh with fermented fish that'll clear your sinuses, and it's like 60 baht. Different style from the On Nut places, more Lao-leaning.

for som tam specifically i'd say the Isaan spots in Chatuchak are underrated, weekdays only though since the weekend crowd ruins the vibe. there's a stall near gate 2 that does tam pa with fermented bamboo shoots, super sour and funky, not something you see much in On Nut. if you're already heading north for Or Tor Kor anyway its worth the detour.

honestly the som tam at Krua Dok Mai Kao is good but what got me hooked is their nam prik pla raa dip with the raw veggies, that funk hits way harder than the papaya does. think most people sleep on it cuz they just order the som tam and gai yang. also pro tip, go before noon on weekdays, after that teh pla ra gets milder cuz they batch it for the lunch rush
