We are looking to party and saw 808 festival as an option to listen to Sara Landry and Anyma, Klangkluestner. Is it worth it? We couldnt find any reviews online. Anyone else visiting 808? Or should we just go to phuket to party at Bangla Rd/ Illusion etc etc

honestly if you're flying all the way from india for your birthday, 808 is a decent shout but it depends what kind of party you want. the lineup is legit for techno and melodic stuff, sara landry and anyma both throw down, but the venue can get packed and drinks are pricy like 300-400 baht for a mixer. phuket's bangla rd is more of a messy chaotic vibe with cheap buckets and go-go bars, not really the same crowd or music style.

imo stay in bangkok for the festival if you want a proper electronic music night, then hit khao san road on the 7th for a trashy hungover birthday recovery. the bts gets you home easy from the venue too, no need to deal with phuket airport chaos.

If you're flying in from India anyway, the 808 lineup is actually pretty rare to catch together in one place. Sara Landry and Klangkluestner don't hit Asia often, so that alone makes it worth considering if you're into proper techno. The festival site is at BITEC Bangna, which is a convention center, so don't expect any outdoor festival feel. It's basically a big warehouse with good sound and lights, but no breeze or sky.

Phuket's Bangla Road is a completely different animal. You'll get loud pop and EDM remixes at Illuzion, cheap drinks, and a lot of drunk tourists doing shots off each other. It's fun in a chaotic way but not where you go for a curated music experience. If your birthday vibe is more "let's get wasted and see what happens," Phuket wins. If you actually want to hear these artists on a proper system, 808 is the move.

One thing nobody mentions: December 6th is also the King's birthday, a national holiday. Bangkok will be decorated with blue lights everywhere and some bars might have adjusted hours or quieter vibes near royal areas. Not a dealbreaker, just something to know.

I've been to 808 before and honestly the production is solid if you're into that big EDM vibe, but the crowd can be a bit hit or miss depending on the night. If you're more about the raw club experience and cheap drinks, Phuket's Bangla Road might be a safer bet for a birthday blowout.

yeah Krua Dok Mai Kao is solid but if you're up for a detour, try Som Tum Nua near Siam Square. their som tam pu pla ra is insane if you like the fermented fish sauce kick. way more pungent than the On Nut spot, just less grilled chicken options
