honestly that's the marathon making it way worse than usual. siam square on a normal night has some bar noise but nothing that'll reach the 28th floor. the marathon route goes right past siam bts and they park those speaker trucks at the turnaround point near central world, echoes like crazy off all the glass

if you're sticking around for a while, the rooms at the back of siam swiss or the ones facing ratchadamri are way quieter. but for tonight just grab a cold one from the family mart downstairs and wait it out, should be dead silent by 3am

nah that's not normal even for siam square lol. the marathon comes through there around that time with the race announcers on full blast plus the music trucks. it'll die down after 2am when they clear out. if you're in a condo facing the square directly those windows aren't doing much either, might wanna grab some foam earplugs from 7-11 for tonight

fwiw that specific marathon route has been the same for like 15 years, the bangkok marathon always loops through rajprasong and siam. the speakers are set up near the siam bts exit 2 intersection where the road widens, creates this weird canyon effect that bounces straight up. if you're on the platinum fashion mall side or facing baiyoke it's actually quieter even though you're closer to the ground

for future reference the siam@siam hotel rooms on the ratchaprarop side are dead silent at night, i've stayed there during the marathon before and barely heard a thing. but for tonight your best bet is to put on some white noise or a fan, the low hum drowns out the bass from those trucks

yeah Krua Dok Mai Kao is solid but if you're up for a detour, try Som Tum Nua near Siam Square. their som tam pu pla ra is insane if you like the fermented fish sauce kick. way more pungent than the On Nut spot, just less grilled chicken options
