yeah the drive is fine but leave bangkok by 6am if you can, teh traffic around the western suburbs gets brutal after 7. theres a good pit stop at the kanchanaburi war cemetery area if u need a break, grab some khao tom from the little stalls across the street. also watch out for the random unmarked speed bumps on the highway, they pop up out of nowhere near the village sections

honestly the drive is pretty straightforward, just take the borommaratchachonnani road all the way out past nakhon pathom and it becomes highway 323. the main thing to watch for is the sudden speed limit drops when you hit towns like nong bua, the cops love sitting there with radar. also if you're renting a car, make sure the insurance covers damage from hitting a stray dog or cow, they wander onto the road at night especially past kanchanaburi

yeah Krua Dok Mai Kao is solid but if you're up for a detour, try Som Tum Nua near Siam Square. their som tam pu pla ra is insane if you like the fermented fish sauce kick. way more pungent than the On Nut spot, just less grilled chicken options
