Does Bangkok have something similar to Wind West in Vientiane; Cheap drinks, live music, relaxed dress code, mix of local/foreigner?

I'm currently living in Bangkok (On Nut) and am struggling to find a nightlife spot that I really enjoy.

My experience is that it's either expensive (RCA/Thong Lo/Ekkamai), red light (Nana/Asoke/Soi… I'm currently living in Bangkok (On Nut) and am struggling to find a nightlife spot that I really enjoy.

My experience is that it's either expensive (RCA/Thong Lo/Ekkamai), red light (Nana/Asoke/Soi 22), backpackers (KSR) or an older/English pub crowd (Phrom Phong). No shade on any of these, I guess it's just not what I'm looking for. I'm 32m and mostly head out solo.

I've been to KALMA/Cheap Charlies a few times, a good setup if you're going with friends but not so good alone.

I usually prefer the dive bar/live music-type bars and recently when I was in Vientiane, Wind West was the kind of vibe I'm after. I haven't been able to find an equivalent in Bangkok - do they exist and I'm not looking in the right places? or have they simply been priced out and replaced?

I also like the Isan/Tawan Daeng style pubs but it seems like these are also hard to come by in Bangkok these days?

Any recommendations appreciated, thanks in advance!

yeah Krua Dok Mai Kao is solid but if you're up for a detour, try Som Tum Nua near Siam Square. their som tam pu pla ra is insane if you like the fermented fish sauce kick. way more pungent than the On Nut spot, just less grilled chicken options
