Any good western boxing gyms in Bangkok? Sparring partners?

Any recommendations? I'm looking for good equipment, decent space, a variety of bags, mitt work, trainers, etc.

Also, anyone on here looking for a sparring partner?

TIA

honestly Boxing Fit is solid but if you want something more old school check out The Boxing Club near Ekkamai. It's tucked behind Soi 10, smaller space but they've got a nice ring and the trainers actually competed. Sessions are around 1,000 baht for drop-in or 3,500 monthly if you commit.

for sparring I'd hit up their weekend morning slots around 10am on Saturdays. The vibe is more chill and you get a mix of local guys who've been at it for years plus newer folks. I've seen some decent western boxers there who actually move their heads instead of just trading shots. just bring your own hand wraps, they're picky about that.

If you're up for a short trip, try Fairtex Sports Club out near Bang Na. It's mostly known for Muay Thai but they've got a dedicated western boxing room with decent bags and a ring, plus a few trainers who boxed in the States. Sparring happens on Wednesday nights around 6, just ask the front desk who's in.

There's a solid spot called Boxing Fit on Sukhumvit 49 that leans fully into western boxing, no Muay Thai influence. They've got good ring space, heavy bags, and trainers who actually focus on footwork and head movement rather than kicks. It's a bit pricey compared to gyms further out, maybe 1,500 baht per session or monthly packages around 4,000.

For sparring, I'd check their open sessions on Tuesday and Thursday evenings around 7pm. The crowd is a mix of hobbyists and guys who've fought, so you can usually find someone at your level if you're upfront about experience. If you're closer to the old city, Knockout Boxing off Ratchada has a more gritty feel and cheaper rates, but the equipment is older and the space is tighter.

best som tam in Bangkok? Krua Dok Mai Kao 2026

Krua Dok Mai Kao is solid but I've always found their som tam a bit tame on the pla ra. If you want the real funky version, try the shophouse spots along Soi Udomsuk 26, near the night market end. They pound it fresh with fermented fish that'll clear your sinuses, and it's like 60 baht. Different style from the On Nut places, more Lao-leaning.

for som tam specifically i'd say the Isaan spots in Chatuchak are underrated, weekdays only though since the weekend crowd ruins the vibe. there's a stall near gate 2 that does tam pa with fermented bamboo shoots, super sour and funky, not something you see much in On Nut. if you're already heading north for Or Tor Kor anyway its worth the detour.

honestly the som tam at Krua Dok Mai Kao is good but what got me hooked is their nam prik pla raa dip with the raw veggies, that funk hits way harder than the papaya does. think most people sleep on it cuz they just order the som tam and gai yang. also pro tip, go before noon on weekdays, after that teh pla ra gets milder cuz they batch it for the lunch rush
