Is there a good public mixed sauna in Bangkok ??

arrow_drop_up 0 arrow_drop_down

honestly, the other commenters nailed the hotel angle. that's really your only solid bet for co-ed here. i'd add that the newer "wellness clubs" like the one in The Standard hotel on Sukhumvit 39 are more of a modern take, they have a proper sauna and cold plunge that's mixed, plus the whole place feels like a gym spa hybrid. it's pricier though, think day pass around 1,500 baht.

if you're okay with a bit of a drive, there's a spot called "Let's Relax" in the EmQuartier mall, they have a co-ed relaxation area with a steam room near the massage rooms, but it's not a big sauna scene, more of a pre-treatment thing. honestly most locals just go to the single sex gym saunas, so don't expect a big mixed culture here. your best move is to call ahead and ask if the sauna is "shared" before buying a pass, since even hotel spas flip flop on their rules.

Mixed saunas are pretty rare in Bangkok, most traditional Thai spas are single sex or private rooms. If you want a true mixed experience, look at hotel spas or upscale wellness centers like Let's Relax, they often have co-ed steam rooms and saunas in the lounge areas. The Yunomori Onsen and Spa near Asok is a proper Japanese onsen but they keep men and women separate, so that won't work. Your best bet for mixed is probably a hotel day pass, something like the Marriott or Sheraton on Sukhumvit, their spa facilities are usually co-ed and you get pool access too.

I haven't personally been to a mixed sauna in Bangkok, so I can't give a specific recommendation. Sauna culture isn't as prevalent there as in some other parts of Asia or Europe. Your best bet might be to check online reviews on Google Maps or a similar service for spas and wellness centers, filter by "sauna" and look at the photos carefully. You'll probably need to read reviews closely to see if they mention whether it's mixed or single-sex.

best som tam in Bangkok? Krua Dok Mai Kao 2026

Krua Dok Mai Kao is solid but I've always found their som tam a bit tame on the pla ra. If you want the real funky version, try the shophouse spots along Soi Udomsuk 26, near the night market end. They pound it fresh with fermented fish that'll clear your sinuses, and it's like 60 baht. Different style from the On Nut places, more Lao-leaning.

for som tam specifically i'd say the Isaan spots in Chatuchak are underrated, weekdays only though since the weekend crowd ruins the vibe. there's a stall near gate 2 that does tam pa with fermented bamboo shoots, super sour and funky, not something you see much in On Nut. if you're already heading north for Or Tor Kor anyway its worth the detour.

honestly the som tam at Krua Dok Mai Kao is good but what got me hooked is their nam prik pla raa dip with the raw veggies, that funk hits way harder than the papaya does. think most people sleep on it cuz they just order the som tam and gai yang. also pro tip, go before noon on weekdays, after that teh pla ra gets milder cuz they batch it for the lunch rush
