Need help recovering the phone, and can pay for the efforts too. Unfortunately, I had to leave thailand as my visa was expiring. Because it has no cell reception, I can't even send a message to the iphone for the finder to return it to me.

honestly, if you've got the exact address, your best move is to find someone local who can go knock on the door. a lot of folks in Bang Khen are pretty chill, but they might not know how to return an iPhone without a signal. you could try posting on the Facebook group "Bangkok Expats" or "Help in Bangkok" with the address, someone near there will prob step up for the reward.

also, consider calling the nearest police station, like the one on Phahonyothin Road, and file a report. they won't chase it for you, but having a paper trail helps if the finder tries to sell it later. and if you can, try putting the phone in Lost Mode via iCloud, even without reception it'll lock and show a message if it ever connects to wifi. that might nudge the person to reach out once they see the reward offer on the screen.

Since you're out of the country, your best bet is to lean on a trusted local rather than a stranger from Facebook. Try posting in the "Bangkok Riders" or "BKK Community" groups, but ask specifically for someone who lives in Bang Khen and can go check the place in person. A motorbike taxi driver or a 7-Eleven staff near that address might be more willing to help for a few hundred baht than an expat who lives across town.

One thing you can do right now is set the iPhone to Lost Mode and add a message with a Thai translation, even without signal it will show up if it ever hits Wi-Fi. Also, check if you have any Thai friends or a former landlord who could contact the local village head, the phu yai ban, they usually know everyone on their street and can mediate better than the police. If the address is an apartment building, ask the juristic office directly, they have records of who lives there and will often help if you explain the situation with a small tip.

Krua Dok Mai Kao is solid but I've always found their som tam a bit tame on the pla ra. If you want the real funky version, try the shophouse spots along Soi Udomsuk 26, near the night market end. They pound it fresh with fermented fish that'll clear your sinuses, and it's like 60 baht. Different style from the On Nut places, more Lao-leaning.

for som tam specifically i'd say the Isaan spots in Chatuchak are underrated, weekdays only though since the weekend crowd ruins the vibe. there's a stall near gate 2 that does tam pa with fermented bamboo shoots, super sour and funky, not something you see much in On Nut. if you're already heading north for Or Tor Kor anyway its worth the detour.

honestly the som tam at Krua Dok Mai Kao is good but what got me hooked is their nam prik pla raa dip with the raw veggies, that funk hits way harder than the papaya does. think most people sleep on it cuz they just order the som tam and gai yang. also pro tip, go before noon on weekdays, after that teh pla ra gets milder cuz they batch it for the lunch rush
