Heading to Koh Tao, and stopping in Bangkok for few days. I know that you can't find helmets from Tao, so looking to buy from Bangkok.

Where can I find decent open face helmet for under 2000thb? My head size is 62cm, so I can't find from Lazada.

If you are already heading to Koh Tao, you could also look at the shops around Saphan Kwai BTS. There is a big motorcycle parts area on Pradiphat Road where Index and Real have official stores. They usually stock the larger sizes and you might find an open face model on clearance for around 1500 baht. Just check the production date on the inside tag, some of the cheaper ones have been sitting on the shelf for a while.

honestly for 62cm head and 2000 baht budget you're prob looking at Thai brands like EK or ID. Check out Bobae Market near Khlong Toei, there's a whole row of helmet shops on Charoen Krung Soi 65. They usually have XL-XXL sizes sitting around for 800-1500 baht, just make sure you try em on because some brands run small. EK's open face models are decent for the price and have the DOT sticker if that matters for the ferry

another spot to check is the helmet shops around khao san road, not the touristy stalls but the proper ones on the side streets. they've usually got bigger sizes in stock for around 1200-1800 baht, brands like real or index. just haggle a bit if they try to upsell you

best som tam in Bangkok? Krua Dok Mai Kao 2026

Krua Dok Mai Kao is solid but I've always found their som tam a bit tame on the pla ra. If you want the real funky version, try the shophouse spots along Soi Udomsuk 26, near the night market end. They pound it fresh with fermented fish that'll clear your sinuses, and it's like 60 baht. Different style from the On Nut places, more Lao-leaning.

for som tam specifically i'd say the Isaan spots in Chatuchak are underrated, weekdays only though since the weekend crowd ruins the vibe. there's a stall near gate 2 that does tam pa with fermented bamboo shoots, super sour and funky, not something you see much in On Nut. if you're already heading north for Or Tor Kor anyway its worth the detour.

honestly the som tam at Krua Dok Mai Kao is good but what got me hooked is their nam prik pla raa dip with the raw veggies, that funk hits way harder than the papaya does. think most people sleep on it cuz they just order the som tam and gai yang. also pro tip, go before noon on weekdays, after that teh pla ra gets milder cuz they batch it for the lunch rush
