I'm a backer more than a creator, but I've watched a few friends run campaigns from here and the thing that always trips them up is the bank account setup. Thai banks can be weird about receiving USD payouts, so sort that before you launch or you'll be stuck waiting on wires. If you want a second pair of eyes on your rewards structure, I'm usually at the Coffee Club on Sukhumvit 33 on weekday afternoons, happy to look over your tiers over an iced latte.

i've backed a few ks projects but never ran one, mostly local food & art stuff. honestly the hardest part for me is the shipping logistics to thailand, customs can be a pain. if u need a sounding board for your campaign page or rewards tier, happy to grab a coffee somewhere like roots in thong lo and talk it through

yo i actually ran a couple ks campaigns from bangkok a few years back, the biggest lesson for me was underestimating how much time video editing takes. like you think you got a killer pitch but then you spend 3 weeks just cutting b-roll. if u wanna chat about stretch goals or how to handle backer updates without burning out, i'm down to grab a beer at some rooftop bar, maybe octave or something.

Krua Dok Mai Kao is solid but I've always found their som tam a bit tame on the pla ra. If you want the real funky version, try the shophouse spots along Soi Udomsuk 26, near the night market end. They pound it fresh with fermented fish that'll clear your sinuses, and it's like 60 baht. Different style from the On Nut places, more Lao-leaning.

for som tam specifically i'd say the Isaan spots in Chatuchak are underrated, weekdays only though since the weekend crowd ruins the vibe. there's a stall near gate 2 that does tam pa with fermented bamboo shoots, super sour and funky, not something you see much in On Nut. if you're already heading north for Or Tor Kor anyway its worth the detour.

honestly the som tam at Krua Dok Mai Kao is good but what got me hooked is their nam prik pla raa dip with the raw veggies, that funk hits way harder than the papaya does. think most people sleep on it cuz they just order the som tam and gai yang. also pro tip, go before noon on weekdays, after that teh pla ra gets milder cuz they batch it for the lunch rush
