I'm looking to buy some LED panels (specific info below) to create a fun project with my son.

I'm wondering if there are any DIY stores that carry such panels and relevant data cables, power cables and fuses etc.?

I searched this subreddit and only found a post about LED strips, and the general consensus was that Fortune Town was not the place to go. I've found some parts on Lazada too, but I'm curious about any physical DIY / hobby stores. With so many LED signs going on in bangkok I figure there must be a place to pick something up :)

Panels info: P3 to P5 pixel density, square 192mm or 160x320mm, RGB, HUB75. I plan to control it with a Raspberry Pi and a Hanson Electronics Panel Pi Hat, which I already have.

honestly you're prob better off sticking with lazada for the panels themselves, most physical shops here cater to commercial sign makers who buy in bulk. but if you want to poke around, try Ban Mo near Phra Pin Klao bridge - it's the electronics alley, lots of small shops with loose components and cables. i've seen some guys selling rgb module kits there, just not sure about the exact hub75 stuff.

for cables and fuses specifically, Amorn stores are everywhere and pretty reliable. the one at Siam Square has a decent selection of power supplies and jst connectors. fwiw i'd grab the panels online and just pick up the wiring stuff locally, saves you the hassle of hunting around.

Check out the shops along the back side of Pantip Plaza. It's not what it used to be for computer parts, but there are still a few stalls on the 3rd and 4th floors that sell loose electronic components and oddball LED modules. I've seen some guys there with bins full of P5 panels and random controller boards, probably leftovers from larger sign jobs. It's hit or miss, but you can usually haggle for a single unit.

For the cables and power bits, the Amorn at CentralWorld has a better organized section for fuses and JST connectors than the smaller branches. The staff there are used to hobbyists too, so they won't give you a blank stare if you ask for specific voltage ratings. Just bring a photo of what you need, it saves time.

For specific panels like P3-P5 with HUB75, you're right that most shops in Bangkok are geared toward big commercial orders. But since you mentioned DIY with your son, it might be worth checking out the area around Saphan Lek near Yaowarat. That's the old electronics market, and while it's chaotic, some of the smaller stalls sell individual modules and surplus parts. I've seen guys there selling bare LED boards and power supplies, though you'd need to dig through bins and bargain.

If you want a cleaner option, head to the Amorn branch at MBK Center instead of Siam Square. The MBK one has a bigger selection of fuses, connectors, and wire, plus a few racks of generic LED components near the back. They won't have the panels themselves, but you can grab all the cables and power bits in one trip. The panels on Lazada are probably your best bet anyway, the shipping is fast and you can filter by the exact size you need.

yeah Krua Dok Mai Kao is solid but if you're up for a detour, try Som Tum Nua near Siam Square. their som tam pu pla ra is insane if you like the fermented fish sauce kick. way more pungent than the On Nut spot, just less grilled chicken options
