Suggestions to propose in Benchakitti park?

Mine will be a surprise visit and co-ordinate with her friends as I'm doing it. Neither of us have been to Bangkok before so I am requesting the locals for some suggestions for the best place to do it.

Here are the requirements:

- Planning on doing it around -6pm so should be well lit area for photos

- She prefers it to be private so a spot where there is very little to no public

- It has to be scenic of course :)

Thank you. This will be a great help and I would appreciate if you could reply with pictures or even google pin coordinates.

Edit: this is just an idea for now but I'm open to suggestions that fit the above requirements around Kimpton maa-lai area

The little hill near the playground on the south side of Benchakitti is a good option. It's slightly elevated so you get the skyline behind you, and most people stick to the lake loop so that area stays quiet. The path lights are decent enough for photos around 6, especially if you position her facing the city and the sunset. One thing to watch for is the evening joggers cutting through around 6:15 or so, but if you go a few minutes earlier you'll likely have the spot to yourselves for long enough.

For the Kimpton area, the little walkway that connects Soi Mahadlekluang 2 to the park entrance is worth a look. It's a narrow green corridor with trees overhead and very few people use it as a throughway. The streetlights there cast a soft warm glow that photographs well, and you're only a couple minutes from the hotel if you want to celebrate right after. Just check it in daylight first so you know exactly where you're standing.

benchakitti at 6pm is gonna be busy with runners and walkers tbh, the lake loop gets pretty packed. if you want privacy, skip the main path and head toward the little boardwalk that cuts through the swampy bit on the northeast side, near the canal entrance. it's quieter there, still has the skyline view, and the lights from the path reflect off the water nice for photos. just go a bit before 6 to scope out a bench or a spot away from the main flow.

since u mentioned kimpton maa-lai, that's like a 10min walk from benchakitti anyway, so you could also do the proposal on the little bridge over the canal at na ranong road, just outside the park. it's less obvious, has the park trees behind and city lights ahead, and at dusk it's usually just locals passing through, not tourists. if her friends are hiding for photos, they can stand on the other side of the street easy.

i'd say get a google pin for the park's northeast entrance at the corner of ratchadaphisek and asok montri, then walk 50m into the greenery along the water. that's your best balance of scenic, lit, and not crowded

honestly i'd skip the park altogether for what you're describing. the kimpton maa-lai itself has a rooftop bar with decent privacy if you time it right, just before the dinner rush hits. the view over lumphini is way cleaner than benchakitti at ground level.

yeah Krua Dok Mai Kao is solid but if you're up for a detour, try Som Tum Nua near Siam Square. their som tam pu pla ra is insane if you like the fermented fish sauce kick. way more pungent than the On Nut spot, just less grilled chicken options
