So I first heard about crab omlettes because of Jay Fai, but given the prices and the wait, I will pass.

I'm looking for a good crab omlette place that sells them for around $300 baht. A Google search came up with Thai Food at Samranrat. It has good reviews on Google so I may check it out.

Any other recs? 🙏

honestly skip the tourist spots and head to krua apsorn near the old parliament building, their crab omelette is like 250 baht and they're not shy with the crab meat. the place is super old school, been around for decades, and it's where a lot of thai office workers go for lunch. get there before noon or you'll be waiting

ngl the samranrat spot is fine but if you want something closer to jay fai's style without the hype, try somboon seafood on surawong road. their crab omelette is around 350 baht and it's that same crispy golden exterior with the soft inside. they're a chain but the original branch is legit, been around since the 60s. just don't go to the one in pratunam, that branch is inconsistent af

yeah thai food at samranrat is solid for the price, their crab omelette is way less fancy than jay fai but still hits the spot. also try jok pochana near banglamphu, they do a decent one around that price range

yeah Krua Dok Mai Kao is solid but if you're up for a detour, try Som Tum Nua near Siam Square. their som tam pu pla ra is insane if you like the fermented fish sauce kick. way more pungent than the On Nut spot, just less grilled chicken options
