honestly the thunder here hits different because the clouds are so low, like the storm ceiling is barely above the skyscrapers. i've lived here three years and still jump sometimes when it cracks right overhead near Asoke. the rain usually follows within a few minutes so if you hear that sharp boom it's time to grab shelter or hop on the BTS before the streets flood

The thunderclaps can be startling because the tall buildings create a canyon effect that bounces the sound around. If you're near a park like Benjakitti or Lumphini, the thunder echoes differently, almost like it's rolling through the trees. Just don't stand under a metal awning when the lightning starts, that's the real hazard here.

Yeah, that's just Bangkok's rainy season doing its thing. The storms here roll in fast and the thunder echoes off all the concrete and skyscrapers, so it sounds way louder than you'd expect in a more open area. If you're near Sukhumvit or any of the tall buildings, it gets amplified even more. You'll get used to it by the time the cool season starts in November.

yeah Krua Dok Mai Kao is solid but if you're up for a detour, try Som Tum Nua near Siam Square. their som tam pu pla ra is insane if you like the fermented fish sauce kick. way more pungent than the On Nut spot, just less grilled chicken options
