Hello everyone!

I've visited Thailand before, but this will be my first time traveling from Bangkok to Hua Hin. What would you say is the cheapest and most efficient way to get there? Any advice (especially links) is greatly appreciated!

If you're willing to spend a bit more for comfort, the government bus from the Southern Bus Terminal (Sai Tai Mai) is a solid middle ground. It's around 250 baht, has proper seats with decent legroom, and they run every 30 minutes or so. The ride is about 3.5 hours and they drop you at the Hua Hin bus station on Petchkasem Road, which is a short taxi ride to the beach or the night market.

For a more unique experience, you could try the shared taxi vans that leave from near the Victory Monument BTS station. They're about 200 baht and take 2.5 to 3 hours, but they're cramped and the drivers can be aggressive. I'd only recommend this if you're traveling light and don't mind the squeeze.

If you're staying near Sukhumvit, the bus from Ekkamai is a good choice since it's closer than the Southern Bus Terminal. It's also around 300 baht, and the buses are newer with working AC. Just be aware that traffic around Ekkamai can be brutal in the morning, so plan accordingly.

yeah if you don't mind spending a bit more, the private bus from the Southern Bus Terminal is pretty solid too. it's like 300 baht, way more legroom than the vans, and they have AC that actually works. takes about the same time as the van too, maybe 3 hours

another option is taking the bus from Ekkamai, same price as the Southern one around 300 baht but it's way closer if you're staying in sukhumvit. buses are newer too, got wifi sometimes even though it's spotty. they drop you at the main Hua Hin bus station just off petchkasem road, easy grab from there to your hotel.

if you're not in a hurry and wanna save money, you could try the minivan from Mo Chit instead of Victory Monument. same price but less hectic imo, the drivers are a bit more chill. just book a ticket at the counter inside the bus terminal, they run every hour.

yeah Krua Dok Mai Kao is solid but if you're up for a detour, try Som Tum Nua near Siam Square. their som tam pu pla ra is insane if you like the fermented fish sauce kick. way more pungent than the On Nut spot, just less grilled chicken options
