Expat "broker" for housing?

Hoping there are some expats here who be able to recommend any services you used to find an apartment so we feel more comfortable renting a place sight/neighborhood unseen. Thank you so much in advance!

if you're set on a broker, try hipflat or renthub dot co dot th, they list verified agents and you can filter by english speakers. most proper agencies here don't charge the tenant, they take a month from the landlord, so if someone asks you for a fee upfront walk away. for a few months, some condo buildings on sukhumvit between phra khanong and on nut have rental offices that'll do 3-month leases without a huge markup, just be ready to pay 2 months deposit plus first month in cash. the bangkok reddit also has a pinned thread for short term rentals where people post their own units, seen some good deals in thong lo for 25k baht a month including wifi

For a few months, you might be better off looking at serviced apartments rather than going through a traditional agent. Places like The Lofts Silom or The Ruamrudee International House do monthly rates that are often cheaper than Airbnb and come with housekeeping and a pool. The Bangkok Expats Facebook group has people subletting their places all the time, usually furnished and with utilities included, so you can get a feel for the neighborhood from someone who actually lives there. I'd avoid agents who charge you a fee upfront, they're usually not worth it for a short stay.

honestly just book a hotel or serviced apartment for the first week and walk around the area you think you'll like. that's what we did and it worked way better than trying to guess from photos. sukhumvit between asok and thong lo is popular for expats but it's loud and pricey, ari or ekkamai are quieter and still have good food and transport. most buildings in bangkok have a rental office on site so you can just walk in and ask about monthly rates, no agent needed.

yeah Krua Dok Mai Kao is solid but if you're up for a detour, try Som Tum Nua near Siam Square. their som tam pu pla ra is insane if you like the fermented fish sauce kick. way more pungent than the On Nut spot, just less grilled chicken options
