I need to be at DMK airport at 10am on Wednesday, coming from near Saphan Taksin BTS station. What time should I call my Grab?

it took about 35 minutes to get here from the airport, but that was in the middle of the day, not rush hour.

honestly i'd call it by 8 at the latest, maybe even 7:45. the ramp onto the expressway at sathon gets jammed around 8:30 and once you're past ratburana it's a crawl until you clear din daeng. i've done that ride in 50 mins on a good day and 2 hours when it was pouring, so give yourself the buffer. grab dynamic pricing also spikes hard around 8am so locking in earlier might save you a couple hundred baht

I'd call the Grab around 8:15 to 8:30 at the latest. The expressway toll from Sathorn up to Don Mueang gets pretty backed up once you hit the Din Daeng area around 9am. If you take the surface route along Phahonyothin it can be even worse with the school traffic. I usually budget 75-90 minutes for that ride in the morning and it's never let me down.

8:15 works but honestly I'd push it to 8 just to be safe. The chalerm mahanakhon expressway from sathorn gets brutal around 8:45, and once you hit the vibhavadi area near mo chit it's a parking lot til you clear lak si. if you take the tollway instead it's a bit smoother but adds 20 baht at the din daeng booth. grab prices also jump around 7:30-8 so earlier is cheaper anyway

yeah Krua Dok Mai Kao is solid but if you're up for a detour, try Som Tum Nua near Siam Square. their som tam pu pla ra is insane if you like the fermented fish sauce kick. way more pungent than the On Nut spot, just less grilled chicken options
