How many units of electricity do you use per month for your one-bed apartment?

Like the title says.. :-) Like the title says.. :-)

honestly it depends on how much u run the ac. my one bed in ekkamai runs about 800-1200 baht a month, which is prob 200-300 units depending on the season. if ur in a newer building with inverter acs and u keep it at 26 during the day it'll be way cheaper than an older place with window units. also if ur condo charges for water and electricity separately check the rate per unit, some places add a markup which can sneak up on u

i'm in a decently new one bed near on nut and it's usually 400-600 baht but i'm pretty stingy with the ac. i run it maybe 4 hours at night on sleep mode and that's it. biggest shock for me was the water bill honestly, some places charge like 25 baht per unit and it adds up fast if you shower twice a day

mine's around 600-800 baht but i barely use the ac, just the fan most nights. if you work from home and run the ac all day you'll easily hit 1500+ especially in the hotter months like april may. also depends on if your building uses government rate or the pesky common area surcharge, some condos in asoke charge like 7-8 baht per unit vs the standard 4-5

best som tam in Bangkok? Krua Dok Mai Kao 2026

Krua Dok Mai Kao is solid but I've always found their som tam a bit tame on the pla ra. If you want the real funky version, try the shophouse spots along Soi Udomsuk 26, near the night market end. They pound it fresh with fermented fish that'll clear your sinuses, and it's like 60 baht. Different style from the On Nut places, more Lao-leaning.

for som tam specifically i'd say the Isaan spots in Chatuchak are underrated, weekdays only though since the weekend crowd ruins the vibe. there's a stall near gate 2 that does tam pa with fermented bamboo shoots, super sour and funky, not something you see much in On Nut. if you're already heading north for Or Tor Kor anyway its worth the detour.

honestly the som tam at Krua Dok Mai Kao is good but what got me hooked is their nam prik pla raa dip with the raw veggies, that funk hits way harder than the papaya does. think most people sleep on it cuz they just order the som tam and gai yang. also pro tip, go before noon on weekdays, after that teh pla ra gets milder cuz they batch it for the lunch rush
